The English program is sequential and over three years will provide a range of genres and social contexts appropriate to the increasing level of maturity and language competence of students.
Students will engage with a range of texts over the three years using resources which are spoken, written, visual and electronic. Activities in units of work will involve students in reading, writing, listening, speaking and viewing for a range of purposes and audiences.
English is the Senior school is an OP subject has a pre-requisite requirement of a Sound Achievement in year 10 English. The course consists of a sequence of four semester units each with a clearly defined focus. Over the two years students will work individually and cooperatively with others to engage with literature, multi-media, popular culture and everyday texts.
English Communication is a non-OP subject that requires a student to have studied year 10 English. The focus of English Communication is to enable students to improve their level of literacy and ability to communicate using language that is specifically related to the workplace and the community.
