Expressive Art Therapy is run by QPASST who provides targeted intervention to our refugee students. It is a trauma informed evidence-based program where the art therapist helps recently arrived refugee students navigate their trauma recovery, settle into school and bridge the gap of disrupted schooling through individual and small group art therapy.
Expressive art therapy is focused on empowerment, reconnection, integrating sense of self and building resiliency and autonomy. It is a therapeutic approach that utilizes the creative process of making art to explore and express emotions, thoughts, and experiences. When integrated with trauma-informed practice, it can be a powerful tool for our young people who have experienced trauma.
