Staff Success Story: Ms. Alice Kulbat – Redesigning the Future of Learning

At Yeronga State High School, we are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of our dedicated staff, and today we’re thrilled to highlight our Director of Creative Industries, the remarkable Ms. Alice Kulbat.

More than just an exceptional educator, Ms. Kulbat has recently been selected as a participant in the prestigious Mayfield Project 2025 – a collaborative initiative led by Learning Environments Australasia (LEA). Chosen from a pool of high-quality applicants across Australia, New Zealand, and Malaysia, Ms. Kulbat is one of only 16 emerging professionals—fondly known as “Mayfielders”—invited to help redefine how schools approach learning environments.

This dynamic group, representing a wide range of professions including educators, architects, designers, and landscape architects, is working together to develop an innovative evaluation portal. This digital tool empowers teachers, students, and staff to assess the effectiveness of their learning spaces—giving schools access to powerful data to better support student success and wellbeing.

Earlier this year, the Mayfielders presented their groundbreaking research project at the 23rd Annual Regional LEA Conference, titled “LEA 3001: A Learning Space Odyssey.” Their work explores how design and education intersect, championing inclusive, adaptable, and future-focused learning environments.

Ms. Kulbat brings the same passion and innovation to Yeronga SHS every day. As our Director of Creative Industries, she leads with creativity, compassion, and a clear vision for the future of education. Her work inspires both students and colleagues, and her impact reaches far beyond the classroom.

We are incredibly proud of Ms. Kulbat and can’t wait to see where this exciting journey with the Mayfield Project leads. Her dedication to reimagining education makes her not just a leader at Yeronga—but a visionary in the wider learning community.

Congratulations, Ms. Kulbat – you’re shaping the future, one creative idea at a time.
